Inspiration for Thumbs Down
I'd already created a couple of other doll picture stories and thought that would be the end of it, but I guess not. I like the challenge of creating images featuring hard plastic dolls with immobile faces, heads turning only left or right, arms and legs turning only up or down, eyes forever open, and mouths forever shut. These were the dolls of my youth, and they were frustrating as all hell to simulate flexible humans.
Back then, not only were our dolls inflexible (much like our government), they were anatomically incorrect. It was easy to draw on bellybuttons and nipples, but the other missing parts were harder to improvise.
This is another doll romance/adventure with a dash of the bizarro 2016 presidential campaign tossed in (written before the bizarro election). Truth really is stranger than fiction, even doll fiction.
